What is a Protagonist?

The word alone came from an exotic country like Greece. Protagonist originated from Athens and means "one who plays the main part, the chief actor" which an be a man or women.  It's the primary figure that will be the central of a play, theatrical , cinematic or musical production.  It is the personage the audience most remembers and identifies with .  Ex. Joan of Arc was a protagonist in the movie "The Messenger".    In ancient Greece theatre a "deuteragonist" and a tritagonist" played others roles alongside the protagonist as there were always 3 played all tragic dramas.

Until We Meet Again….

To Professor Hamon and all my Comp III classmates:

Here's to a hard working and caring group …and most of all to Professor Hamon who diligently gave us the guidance, motivation, and once in a while cracked whipped us into shape to the road of  becoming the polished, college level writers that he knew we were capable of !
We all have come away demonstrating a sample of what Professor Hamon has taught us in our renewed sense of rhetoric.
I wish you all Happy Christmas and may all your good wishes come true for coming 2014 New Year…Good Luck and GOD BLESS ~

Sublime Assessments

What a clever way to make sure students read the assigned chapters in their books, review videos to supplement the material in the chapters and answer questions and immediately submit to the wkly workshop page you then swing over to a another page of graphs and your fellow scholars who already did their homework and get a glimpse of what they wrote.  For me, I thought is was a brilliant start to the week with the material we are going to work on...Brava!!!  can i get  your autograph Professor?

WIKI..WOW..WIKI

I never thought I would have learned so much from a class videos and weekly workshops and actually like it!  A brilliant concept, it really reinforced the chapter readings with short concise videos and questions followed all online.  Assignments already done and submitted before the start of the week how brilliant!  My most memorable amusing video was the one on the "Red Herring effect" of argument writing, the animated figures were a good touch.  To put a dead fish in the trail of your opponent in order to distract you from the real objective…Wiki also served to keep me on track with upcoming assignments for the entire week in advance.

Google + and the "Drive"

Ok, I think the G+ of the classroom is utterly exceptional!  I already had a brief encounter with G+ but never was I so enthused about using it like when I started Comp III and than some!!!  It's like having our own little special club secluded away from all other groups and everyone else.  The Drive is another tool I had no idea could be so useful for writing APA papers, sharing, sharing..etc.. all the good stuff above!   Both classroom tools work in tune together with communicating our assignments, we comment on our own papers, comment on our own blogs, we can post what ever tickles own fancy on the G+ page and get to choose who views our postings.  Kinda like the our own eng2001 class FB!  We share, inform, express, we identify ourselves to one another in class through the cyber wires and voice who each of us really is about.  I truly enjoy the G+ and Driving in the classroom and will continue communicating to those of you even after Comp III,  if who are interested and certainly to Mr Hamon.  I'd be curious to see who uses this tool for other classes….Deeply grateful for these classroom tools, I have come away better skilled writer and more aware of my writing display and structure. YAY!

"STATS", true or false?

After viewing the TED videos on statistics really opened my eyes to the validity  of what stats are really about.   Although statistics  are generally based on probability, numbers randomness , chances are , we all depend on those numbers from the most scholarly sources available.   When I researched for essay on women in IT, I used these statistics with regards to getting estimates and probabilities on the amount of females in the computing field within a given region, global levels and given specified time frames.
My sources came from Harvard, Wall Street Journal and Dept of Labor, a government organization that fully trust staticians to submit numbers for guidelines.  Some of the highest skilled mathematicians and scholars are hired by those organizations who require representation of evidence that might come close to accurate numbers on probabilities  without the certainty and allow room for errors of logic.  Stats can reshape your way of thinking and your views of the world in general.

whew!...finally finished Doc3

Firstly,…THANK YOU to Prof. Hamon for allowing all of us the extra time to finish and revise our papers to enhance our grade point average.
Free to choose, free to write on whatever topic we are passionate about and it was definitely a refreshiing experience to say the least.  I believe it's the hardest and longest I've ever worked on topic that your supposed to have knowledge about.  After much research and long hours of reading and composing my thoughts to which writing method I should best express my passion and how I was going to approach this topic of women being in IT.   I wanted to convey a sense of importance and reflection my thoughts, my emotions in the rawest form of   my inner core I could best describe without sounding repetitive and mushy.  Not get bored with my paper but rather leave you wanting more!!
I wanted my female readers to know that technology is not just a profession but a life choice to be proud, a movement by which will make a historical mark and blaze trails for the future STEM graduates.  We all have the power to make it extraordinary or just ordinary.  I want to be up there with those few women who have made their mark and made a difference.   I am very proud of what I wrote.

Flipped is Fabulous!

Hello Everybody!
We are starting the week with blogs, more edits/peer reviews for Docs 2&3.  Making mention of the "flipped" capabilities of this class are so superbly useful and really working to my/our advantage for those of  us who have so many life events happening elsewhere.   Although you must be more discipline in this aspect without having the help of a teacher next to you but the positives fiercely outweigh the negatives of this classroom system of "flipped".  Not only is it convenient to work from any PC/Mac/iPad systems but gives me the freedom to work on the blogs postings, essays and other assignments  and submit to the teacher all in one shot at our own given time , anytime or anywhere without the pressure of class time constraints.  Being on a flipped schedule allows me to "burn the midnight oil"..lol.    I wish my other classes were like that, make an appearance in class, make a "face-to-face" check in with the class teacher and work on my assignments on the net, submit via email!     Just to remind myself, the next blog is about the statistics, based on the reading assignments for this week!.   Have a great week!!
